| HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Getting involved with the BIA not only supports the industry in which you work, but it also provides you with numerous opportunities to develop new business relationships, new skills and increase your understanding of the issues facing our industry. Participating in the BIA can be a critical success factor to your professional development.
There are many ways that you can get involved, for more information on any of these areas, please contact Nancy Jordan. The BIA relies on volunteers, so please help keep the industry strong!
Committees and Councils: Participating in committees introduces you to people from a wide range of companies involved in the building industry. Meet people working for builders, developers, banks, mortgage and title companies, not to mention every supplier of products in a new home! Committees plan a variety of events that help fund the work of the BIA, and increase the contacts and knowledge of those who participate.
Government Affairs: These specific committees track and influence the policies of city and county governments as they regulate the home-building industry. BIA/LAV currently operates three committees: one for cities in Ventura County, one for Greater Los Angeles, and one for the Santa Clarita Valley and unincorporated LA County.
General Membership Meetings: The BIA hosts Membership Meetings almost every month, typically on the third Wednesday of each month. Events range from networking fun to important programs such as the economic outlook for the industry. Come meet others in the industry and expand your network!
Special events: Each June, the BIA hosts its popular Golf Tournament – this event sells out every year! In November, BIA/LAV holds an annual Awards banquet. Come celebrate the successes of our members and meet the new Board of Directors.
American Dream Team: Sign up for the American Dream Team to stay abreast of the issues facing our industry. You will receive email alerts on important topics and be able to forward your comments to elected officials. The American Dream Team is a great way to support the industry even if you don’t have much time. Make your voice heard by signing up at www.theamericandreamteam.org
PAC: The BIA runs a Political Action Committee that makes contributions to political candidates that understand the need for housing in our region and who are working to meet that demand. Contributing to the PAC helps the BIA reach more candidates.
